Ladies in Waiting

Pregnant ladies, subject to prior arrangement, are most welcome at Yogatree classes.  Scores of ladies have practised Yoga during pregnancy, (many right up to the day before the baby arrives!) and Yoga is an ideal way to get back into shape after the birth. We can put you in touch with a Yogatree Mom if you would like to hear about her experience of pregnancy and Yoga.

It is wonderful if you can start practising Yoga before you become pregnant, as part of your pregnancy planning. It is of course ideal to begin practising Yoga in your teens or even in childhood. However, for many ladies, their pregnancy is the beginning of their Yoga journey. We will happily welcome you to the practice and support you through this special time.

Always tell your doctor first that you intend to start doing Yoga.

We do not accept new Yogis during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. However, in the second trimester you can enjoy a full practice. You can do gentle Yoga right up to and during the birth, especially the breathing techniques. Six weeks after your baby is born, we would like to see you return to class so that we can help you get back into shape. It is also very important for new Moms to take time for themselves to stretch, breathe and relax in a Yoga class, at least once a week.

Private one-on-one sessions are available if you would like a personal Yoga programme tailored to your needs and your pregnancy.

We also sell an excellent "Yoga for Pregnancy" DVDs to help you with home practice.

Take time to breathe after the baby has arrived …
Parenting babies and toddlers is an extraordinary experience.  Apart from all the minding and caring, you are the focus of their world.  Through you they receive the opportunity to explore and understand all that is new.  It is an exciting time for your little one and their appetite for stimulation and activity is insatiable.  It is a very busy time for Mums - and Dads too.  In order to give of your best, you must look after yourself too, the task of child-rearing can easily become overwhelming.

Remember to find a little time each week that you can devote to renewing your energy reserves and replenishing your sense of relaxed calm. This will be helpful for you and your family.  The way in which you achieve this is unimportant -- as long as you feel the benefits, but yoga, as you may know, provides sustenance for the mind and body.  For special consideration, where mums are concerned, is the strengthening and recovery of your pelvic floor, stomach and back muscles – never mind the chance to simply breathe...

What pregnant ladies say about the classes
“Yoga with Hilde ensured that I was relaxed and comfortable throughout my pregnancy and enabled far greater flexibility and mobility in the last months. I also enjoyed the friendly banter and support of Hilde and other class members. I would advise all women, especially those expecting, to take the class.”Yogatree Mum
